1. CCTV has to be monitored all the time. You need to be proactive and stop things happening, rather than being reactive and responding to them afterwords.

What one person might think of as significant, you might not. This will mean that looking for patterns in behaviour, such as seeing which days a certain person was caught on camera, or how many times a certain door was used, will be extremely difficult.

7. You might need to find an individual in a crowd, and this can be very difficult. You might know who the individual is, and what they look like, but can't follow them because they can hide in a crowd. Think about how useful this ability would be if you worked at a football stadium, or in a shopping centre.

8. CCTV and the people whoi monitor the cameras can't always distinguish between good intent and bad intent. Is the person outside the jewellers waiting for a friend, or are they about to rob the place? Has somebody left their shopping behind, or is that a suspicious package? Is that person nervous in the airport because they don't like flying, or are they hiding something?

9. Video Analtics much more effective and useful. Adding video analytics means that the CCTV footage relies much less on somebody monitoring it, and can actually inform when something happens.
